Reilly turns 5!

Our little girl turned 5 this week, and to say that this was a much anticipated birthday for her would be an understatement! Photos are here.

Week 11 for Maeve, 5 days away from 5 for Reilly

My girls went away to North Carolina for a week and left me at home. While there were gone, I managed to go fishing, do a few projects around the house and get some well-needed sleep.

It's funny, when you have a newborn you just get used to operating on less sleep and your perpetual tiredness becomes the new normal. I realized this after a few nights of uninterrupted sleep left me downright chipper in the morning.

I did miss my girls an awful lot, and even more when I saw this set of pictures.

Week 10 for Maeve, nearly 5 years for Reilly

A short week and not too many photos to show, but we did capture Uncle Danny's visit home to see his niece's, so that counts for something!

My girls are all off for a week in the mountains and the camera is traveling with them. Hope to have some good ones to share when they get back.

Maeve Brooks Overcast, Week 9

Maeve is starting her tenth week, and she grows bigger and more alert by the day. She's sturdy enough to make some trips around town to the aquarium or Publix, and her moods are more predictable, thought not entirely. She can still unleash the burning fires of hell upon all within earshot.

Maeve is generous with her smiles, and enjoys being held, especially by her mommy. Her periods of fussiness are easily remedied by "the milkshake" and speaking of milk, she is getting much better at taking the bottle, though it still takes some effort.

Maeve loves her sister, mommy and daddy, and recognizes us by voice and by our features. She also loves the little stuffed animals of her mobile, who she greets with little chatty vocalizations. The only syllable she has formed so far, predictably, is "ma."

One more syllable and we've got a first word...
